Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 16 August 2026  |  Effective: 16 August 2026

1. Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs all use of PDFXINET services — including the website, API, and any associated tools — by registered users and guests. It is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service.

We provide these tools to help people process documents productively and legally. This policy exists to protect our users, third parties, and the integrity of our service.

2. Prohibited Uses

You must not use the Service to:

2.1 Illegal or Harmful Content
  • Upload, process, or distribute content that is unlawful in the UK, EU, or your jurisdiction
  • Process child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — this is a criminal offence and will be reported to law enforcement and the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) or equivalent
  • Process content that glorifies, promotes, or facilitates terrorism, extremism, or mass violence
  • Process content that incites hatred based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
  • Facilitate human trafficking, exploitation, or modern slavery
2.2 Intellectual Property Infringement
  • Upload or process copyrighted works without the right-holder's permission
  • Use the Service to remove or circumvent DRM (Digital Rights Management) protections
  • Process materials that infringe patents, trademarks, or trade secrets
2.3 Fraud and Deception
  • Create, modify, or distribute fraudulent documents including forged contracts, fake identification, counterfeit certificates, or falsified official records
  • Produce phishing materials, scam documents, or content designed to deceive people into disclosing personal or financial information
  • Use AI summarisation or other tools to produce misleading, fabricated, or defamatory content about real persons or organisations
2.4 Privacy and Data Protection Violations
  • Process personal data of third parties without a lawful basis under GDPR or equivalent legislation
  • Use the Service to harvest, scrape, or compile personal data for unauthorised profiling
  • Process special category data (health, financial, biometric, etc.) without appropriate safeguards
2.5 System Abuse
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, daily usage quotas, or file size restrictions by any means
  • Use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or crawlers against the web interface (API use with a valid API key is permitted within your plan limits)
  • Upload malware, viruses, trojans, ransomware, or any malicious code — even within PDF or document containers
  • Attempt to access, interfere with, or test the security of our systems, servers, or other users' data without explicit written authorisation
  • Use the Service in a manner that places excessive load on our infrastructure or disrupts service for other users
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of our software
2.6 Spam and Mass Messaging
  • Use the Service to produce bulk unsolicited communications (spam)
  • Process or generate content for phishing emails or other mass deception campaigns

3. Content Standards

Any content you upload must be content you have the legal right to process. We do not actively monitor content for compliance, but we may investigate reports of violations and act accordingly.

The use of our AI tools (summarisation, chat) to generate content that is false, defamatory, or designed to mislead is prohibited. AI output is your responsibility to review before use.

4. Copyright and DMCA / DSA Notices

We respect intellectual property rights and comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) notice-and-action procedures.

If you believe content processed through our Service infringes your copyright:

  1. Email our designated agent at copyright@pdfxinet.com
  2. Include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the allegedly infringing material; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement of good faith belief; (e) a statement of accuracy; (f) your signature
  3. We will respond within 5 business days and, where appropriate, remove access to the material

Counter-notices may be submitted in accordance with 17 U.S.C. § 512(g) or DSA Article 20.

5. Enforcement

Violation of this AUP may result in, at our sole discretion:

  • Immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account without refund
  • Removal of specific content or files
  • Reporting to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law
  • Civil or criminal referral where applicable

We reserve the right to preserve and disclose any data we reasonably believe is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or safety, or prevent illegal activity.

6. Reporting Abuse

To report a suspected violation of this AUP, email abuse@pdfxinet.com with as much detail as possible. We investigate all credible reports and take appropriate action.

7. Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the current version. Material changes will be communicated as described in our Terms of Service.
